Originally from Janai, a thrived village of Hooghly, West Bengal, Debarati's family is now based out of Dankuni for the past 50 years. A revered, venerable and lettered family in the locality has many testominials. Her paternal grandfather, Late Shri Ram Narayan Mukherjee was a British India soldier in his early life, who was a conscript of 2nd World War in Japan and Vietnam and spent 5 years of his life in Hanoi, imprisoned. His grasp over History and English was commandable and his love for travel took him to many places enrichin his erudition. Debarati's maternal grandmother Pratima Mukherjee belonged to a very cultured clan, who herself is a former singer of All India Radio inheriting her avid music lessons from her ancestors. Sekhar Mukherjee (Debarati's father) was in R & D of CSIR,Govt of India, is an extremely enthusiastic and rhapsodic person who is also a veteran Contact Bridge player. He won various national championships in Bridge. He inherited from his father the pashion for globe-trotting and visited innumerable places. He is also a versed photographer and a former member of Jadavpur University Photographic Club. Kshama Mukherjee (Debarati's mother) is a submissive and slashy lady, who is a writer, booklover and poet in her leisure. Debarati's only sibling, Debdutta is a Class XII student, who is a greenhorn percussionist and very close to his elder sister. Debdutta is also expert in Recitation and gifted with melodious voice.
Dutta Family, Burdwan




The Dutta Family of Burdwan is one of the rare clans of contemporary society who still continues to exist with four generations living under the same roof! They belongs to a prospered village of Burdwan, Hatgobindapur, which was the hub of the Socio-Educational movement along with progressive peasant movement in the decade of 1930 during the freedom movement of our Country. Surajit's paternal grandfather Late Shri Panchanan Dutta was one of avant-garde who took initiative to enrich his village with education and tutelage along with his brother Late Shri Taraknath Dutta. Surajit's maternal grandfather Jitendranath Sadhu was also the pioneer of inauguration of schools and educational organisations in his village while his brother Dr. Chanchal Sadhu is an eminent scientist,who works in USA for the past 30 years following his Doctorate from Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, and his wife Dr. Krishna Sadhu is a momentous artist apart from being a veteran scientist. Surajit's father now keeps himself busy with social activities of village after his superannuation. Surajit's mother Purabi Dutta is an altruistic lady who is often referred as "Mother Teresa' by her family. She is extremely dynamic,cultured and engages herself with different spheres of philanothropic activities. Surajit's only brother, Arijit is a Post Graduate student of Mathematics. Surajit's family, known as 'Duttabari' in their locality, organizes Durga Pujo every year, which is their 103 years old tradition with social activities like food distribution among poors during the festival days. The affectionate flavour of joint families exist in their house always. Posession of joint cord that knits the members of the family together is love and predilection.More than 100 members gathered in every occassions and share their happiness.
